Magee Marsh 2012

This morning we were out of the motel about 6:30 and headed to a birding location west of Toledo. Oak Openings Nature Preserve has hardwood forests and open fields. There we saw Lark Sparrow, Red-headed Woodpeckers, Indigo Buntings, Suner Tanagers, and other specialties of the Preserve.

We then drove back to Magee Marsh and enjoyed several hours of birding on the boardwalk. We saw many of the same species we have seen the past two days but we did manage to add some new species. We also enjoyed talking with Adrian Binns, Jane Binns, Hart and Jewel Rufe.

We left the boardwalk and stopped at the local shorebird spot put there was not much happening there. So we headed to Metzer Marsh for some late afternoon marsh birding.

We hosted a happy hour for Susan and Jack plus their four friends from Michigan. We had a great meal at at Thai Resturant.

We have seen about 130 species so far.
